I’m writing this on Christmas Eve evening, between family games of Blokus and Rummicub. Today we have had a houseful as per usual on Christmas Eve to fill the gap before the start of the festivities tomorrow.

I had a mad dash this morning in order to finish icing the Christmas cake before everyone arrived. So many people dislike Christmas cake/fruit cake in general but it has always been one of my favourite foods of the holiday period! This cake was made using a recipe from the Free From Fairy – although I did accidentally forget to put it the lemon juice and ground flax seeds so fingers crossed it still tastes okay…. Cake was covered with natural marzipan, fondant icing and then piped with royal icing for this elegant look!

Dairy free and gluten free Christmas cake, made from scratch!

The Christmas period has always been one of my favourite times of year. I love every aspect, and I hope you enjoy it too.
